Does anyone here live on the parkway road? Or who lives the nearest to the parkway? I sure would like some info about getting a place on or very near the parkway. And what state has the lowest taxes and living expenses. I would like to retire soon and move down there.....can't take NY any more. Looking for nice weather, great riding areas, good people and great food. I know that's a tall order, but I also know there are places pretty close to that. I have road the BRP and remember seeing homes on it. That would be the retirement place for me. If it's to much $$$$ what about the best foothills comunity to buy a small home and retire. I'm sure Smoking Joe will say Tenn. and Steamer will say GA. and I would agree with both of them. In my thoughts I would pick from Tenn. GA. SC. NC. but it's a hard choise. Things to ponder.....home cost, taxes, weather, riding area. Any info would be helpful.

Thanks to all my Brothers & Sisters here

You might look look at the border counties of East TN. and Western NC all are really nice places to live. If you want a fair size city Johnson City, Tn. College town and Med-school and VA center less than a hour from the BRP . And 7 lakes within 45 miles of town. The ski area of Beech Mtn. NC about 45 miles away.

If you want a quaint town Asheville, NC is the place. NC has some high taxes so check them out. BRP goes right through the edge of town.

We have a lot of half backs live in NE Tennessee and Western NC. They move from up North to Florida and then move half way back.

We have a 9.5% sales tax in Tennessee but the rest of the taxes are not bad.

The VA center is very is my first thought as I do visit them for my health care, low taxes is also good, and great riding areas is right there also. I will send an e-mail to you Gary and 40ford....I always liked them a classic for sure and a cool ride. I will start doing my research and keep you posted. Again Thanks....
