After my new 69 or 70 Honda sl 90 road it till I got car license at 15 1/2 never road again till the goldwing 20yrs old i think, road it one time. Never had any more interest in bikes, never gave them a seconds thought. One day around 12 years ago was on internet saw this black bike I enlarged the pic and thought, that is a nice bike then looked at the name, I thought, what the hey is a Valkyrie. but i loved that bike for some unknown reason. Could not get that bike out of my head. I don't know what it is about the bike maybe just the beauty, and the black and chrome is the one I have always been addicted to. All the other colors are beautiful to," thought i was going to leave you out didn't ya" anyway for some reason the black is what trips my trigger. I have never had a material item have an effect on me like that. The thing literaly reached out and grabed me. Before that I cared nothing about bikes.

I was riding a 1984 Magna and a friend had moved up to a Valkyrie. I loved the look of it. Every time I saw one I just drooled. Finally decided I wanted a bigger, more comfortable, road worthy bike and started looking for a Valkyrie.
I found mine and bought it in July 2007 in Colorado Springs. It also was a black and chrome Interstate and had 25,450 miles on it.
Now, less than five years later I STILL love it.
It now has over 123,000 miles on it. Runs like a top. I change the oil, lube the splines, replace tires, replace brake pads, put in gas and go. A couple other modifications are adding Progressive springs to the forks and Progressive shocks in the rear. Also added an Ultimate seat.
Only real maintenance was replacing the water pump about a year ago. I did replace the original battery also in the past 6 months. Have never pulled the carbs or synched them. Have never pulled the plugs. And over almost 5 years I have averaged between 38 and 39 miles per gallon.

first time i ever saw a valkyrie was a bill board as i was driving home from my parents house. i remember seeing it and saying to myself "why would anyone need a 6 cylinder motor cycle?" it was a yellow standard on the bill board, about 1998 or so.
fast forward about 9 years.
my wife wants me to finish the basement, i just got fired from my job so i've got to earn some brownie points, plus i want a honda goldwing. i get her to agree to letting me get a new cycle if i do the basement. she agree's infront of the kids, and i go to work on the basement. after about 6 months, and several thousand dollars that i was saving up to buy my cycle, i finish the job, and it looked great! soon after that i basically forgot about the cycle 'cause i no longer had the money, and still haddn't gotten a job. with out making an issue, the kids kick in and start putting the fire to the wife saying that she made a promise she had to keep!
i start looking in the local "trading post" magazine were i read about a guy having a honda valkyrie. i didn't know what one was and had totaly forgotten the old billboard. the add said it was an interstate, and that it was red/black. i did a search, pulled up a picture, and saved it as my wall paper on the computer. after a few weeks of her seeing the cycle on the computer, she agree's to going to the guys house so i can "take a peek". we get to the guys house, and it was love at first sight! this thing didn't have one single scratch on it, it was perfect! my wife knew we were buying it that day. i haggled off $100 'cause at the time the radio didn't work (loose wire). rode her home, scared as hell 'cause it was so huge!!
my wife later told me that she was NEVER going to let me get a goldwing, when i asked her why she told me that a goldwing was an old mans cycle, and she was too young to be married to an old man!!

The year was 1971 and I just got my first bike. Unlike you guys with the little 90's, I got myself wrapped around a '65 dream. 150cc of mean honda. yeah, and it was white!!! I drifted away from bikes while the kids were growing up. started again about 5 years ago. Anyway, 38 years and about 10 bikes later after the "Dream", I was having lunch on the restaurant patio with 4 of my Harley friends, me on my '88 hurricane. A standard Valk pulled up into the parking lot. I had my back to the guy so I did'nt even hear it. The Harley boys looked at me and asked what the hell is that (if it ain't smoking, shaking and dripping, they don't have a clue). Yeah, love at first sight. Took 6 months to find my Valk. I wanted a two tone Interstate but couldn't find one. Settled on a black standard 14 hours round trip to pick it up. Unlike the first Valk that I couldn't hear, this one had the 6 pack exhaust with the baffles removed. Sounded like a NASCAR. We got home (me and one of those Harley guys) about 7 at night. opened the door to the enclosed U-Haul trailer and started to roll it out. My wife stood there and said "holy crap"! can you handle a bike that big? She has a 750 Virago and it looks like a scooter next to the Valk. I can't think of another bike to better end my riding days than the Valkyrie...

Have my 99 tourer going on 5 years now. I smile, giggle, and say to myself "I can't believe I got one of these!" every time I walk up to it and hop on. Sedona/Cream, Dark side. Valks are definitely show stoppers.
Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeee Wheee Wheee Wheee Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
