I just bought both the front and rear fender extensions. I like the looks of Valks that have the
front extension--it's plainly visible. I'll definitely install the front one.

As for the rear, with having an Interstate, I would think much of it would be covered by the bags from the side and the license plate from the back view.
I know it's a matter of personal taste, but want to hear the views of others. I also don't see too many Interstates with the rear extension. Should I install it or sell it? I must confess this rear one is also HUGE.

Thanks..

I have two interstates, and put the extensions on the front only.... for the reasons you pointed out, plus the chrome plate bracket above and chrome bag rail below on both my bikes would kinda make it disappear (the black paint on my bikes contrasts nicely there).  Probably not an issue, but I was also concerned the rear extension would trap too much crud and wet and maybe rot the fender edge prematurely.

It is pretty well established that most flats are rear tires where sharp things are pitched by the front into the larger rear tire.  This said, the front fender extension only extends past the front fender a half inch or less (most of it lays on top the fender), so the added protection is pretty minimal.

Jess, years ago I remember a thread or two about folks who added a mudflap to their front fender
extension. Some were homemade out of 1/2 rubber with a "diamond plate" looking raised design. That would help to keep from slinging objects into the rear.
I think RJ was one of those who did it.

RJ doesn't have a front or rear extension, but he does have mud flaps front and rear.

Ok, so I have "half" a memory left...thanks for chiming in, RJ!  What rubber material did you use and
where did you come across it, if I may ask?
Thanks,

I have been reluctant to add any weight to the rear fender ('97 GL1500C) because I read that the rear fenders tend to drop down.  I looked underneath mine and there is a crease in the fender material on one side.  Are there any remedies to prevent this and what is the rear fender made of?

valkyrieriders.com has a list of "Known Valkyrie Problems".  Rear fender buckle is #2 on the list.
