When I got home Friday night my little brother had left a bag hanging on my door knob with a Myrtle Beach bike week shirt in it. He had made a nice choice. Classic black isn't my first choice anymore but it is a classic.  No V-twins. All skulls and crosses with some flames. Basic 2009 bike week shirt.

It's not just a shirt.

I'm 8 years older than my brother.  When I was in college I would slip off to all the bike weeks and biketoberfests in Myrtle and Daytona.  I'd always grab my little brother and father a shirt when I picked up mine from the events. Sometimes I'd get three matching shirts. Sometimes they'd just coordinate depending on what I could find. Some years we'd get our pic taken in our shirts to make mom happy. Odd family.

Somewhere after college I guess life caught up to me. Working I couldn't get as much time off as I could when I was running around in college. I haven't been to a bike week in a while. My wife and I went to a few in Myrtle together which was nice. I haven't been to Daytona in a while. I've stopped planning my weekends around them...I don't even know when they fall on the calender.

My brother, who is now a junior at App State, went with a group of friends to the beach. I didn't think about what beach or when. When I came home the other night I found a shirt on the door. He'd been to Myrtle. It was bike week. He brought me a shirt.

I guess we come full circle in life.
