when I put my 97 standard into first gear the bike it kinda learches forward. not really a learch but you can feel it go into gear hard. my mechanic says it could be from running amsoil, says its too thin. the clutch fluid has not been changed in years, do you think changing the fluid could make it go into gear smoother?

it's a cheap and easy way to find out....and your mechanic sounds like he's on a fishing expedition.

Every Valk I've ever owned has done that. If I remember, there was actually a thread quite a while ago consensus was it's normal.

LOOK IN THE LITTLE WINDOW on the clutch master cylinder.

If it is dark, it is time to be changed.

Same goes for the front brake and rear brakes.

When I do one, I do the other 2.

I'm in the same boat as RJ if your doing one it just as easy to do them all, About every other year for me. I don't wait until it's dark yellow.
To me fluids changes are easy prevention.  cooldude
