I have a noise that sounds like metal on metal worn disc brakes coming from what sounds like the right side in/around the dryshaft. Only on downshifts, only hear it somewhere below 30 mph, and it goes away as soon as you pull in the clutch. Any ideas?

How many miles on it?

Have you checked the u-joint?  Could be a bunch of things but I'd start by searching the tech boards for u-joint and start reading.

When my u-joint went, it made similar noise adjustments when changing gears and speeds.

Let us know what you find...

O.K., so found out that the noise I've been hearing is a dry spline. Honda recommends moly lube every 8,000 miles. Ironic that I have to chg, tire every 10,000. So, long story short, it's lubed, spline had no damge, no noise now, we're good to go mates!

The pinion cup and drive shaft mating spines are often missed during final drive service.  If you didn't check, clean, and re-lube the pinion, I recommend it.  Moly grease (not paste) is called for, but any high-grade waterproof grease will do.
