2 questions. #1 - I just installed a Kuryakyn heel toe shifter & I'm having a problem getting it into 2nd. It sounds & feels like it's klunking inn but it's in neutral. I have to slam it 2-3 & sometimes 4 times before it    will engage. I have no problem downshifting though. Everything worked fine before I installed it. #2 - I got one of those Mishimoto Temp. Guages 1.3 bar radiator caps & can't keep the thing from leaking. Anybody else experiencing this & any suggestions on how to remedy it ?

Look carefully at the heel/toe shifter and see if the heel part is striking the muffler on its downstroke. Also look at the toe part and see if it is striking something above it. If this is the case the original toe shifter needs to be pulled off and moved a notch (a spline) up or down until nothing is hitting.

Sometimes when the radiator cap is removed without loosening the locking screw on the original cap the flanges of the radiator filler neck are bent down. Remove the cap and inspect the radiator flange and bend the flange so its flat (level) all around. The seal of your new cap should now make complete contact and your leak stopped.

As state above, you have a adjustment problem.

Pull the shifter off and drop it 1 notch, try it, if not enough go 2 down.

If that doesn't work, put it up 3 notches and try it, Don't go more, than 1 more notch up.

If that doesn't cure your shifting, you will need to change your lever out for a different model of Honda bike.     I think it was a ST 1000 shifter I put on mine.

Haven't missed a shift in 198K.   I have 242K+ and I had made a couple of runs around the lower 48 states, before I added it.  Mine is one of Chet's 1st design.   I'd retired, had to have Quad bypass and I guess I kind of got my balls in an uproar as to I wasn't due to be much longer on this planet.  That was a misnomer, as I'm still on top of the grass and I'm still raising hell.   MGM has been in all the lower 48 states 3 times, each time getting pictures of the state Capital for proof.   Also went to Alaska.   65% of those miles were on a CT.

The alternate shifter to which RJ refers, is from the 1100xx Blackbird.  also the Kury Heel/toe has a rod that runs from the unit forward to the shifter shaft which may need to be adjusted shorter so that your downkick with heel moves the shaft all the way into the next gear.  I hope this made sense  crazy2

Thanks for clarifying that part needed Gear Jammer.

It had been so long ago that I got that other shifter I could only guess since my remember went South with the Duck/Geese this year and never came back.

Ride safe, and keep the shiny side up.
