I have six pics of the "new" yoke & u-joint" from directline. I have forgotten how to put them into photostash. Maybe I can forward the email they are in and someone can lend a hand. I know they are too large and will have to be resized. I called Directline and they "assured me they are NEW units. They obviously are not(with the exception of the joint). Someone let me know(trontek_99@yahoo.com)

Thank you very much, misunderstood. The only thing I am questioning is that DL  would have nothing to do with my mentioning they appear to have been rebuilt. I will go ahead and install it unless I'm advised to not do so. Any have thoughts?? The first one I replaced around 50k. was beat all to heck as it had spit the rollers out without my realizing it....the yoke looked much worse than this! The only time it made much noise/chatter was unloading it....This "new" one has laid in the shop and has a bit of rust started on it.

I agree it looks like a rebuild but the stake marks look to be original. It's hard to understand how it came to be all beat up  like it is.The bearings seem to be new.I would talk to someone higher up at HDL unless you need to change it now.

The stakes that appear in the pics ARE new but, looking at the unit, it is obvious the orig have been milled out....

Just asking, but if the splines are good, and the ujoint itself is new, why could you not run them?

I just replaced my U-Joint that I ordered from HDL Mine was NEW and no signs of being milled out like the one you show. That is the only way to get the old ones off is to mill the serrations. Mine was not repairable (broke appart) and when I ordered the Ujoint from HDL I assumed I was only getting a UJoint?? But it came with both yokes as you have pictured Very happy camper let me tell ya. All splines was fine from the output shaft back to the final drive. Re molly everything and it is now back together. I have 75K on the 99 I.S.

I didn't see what the splines look like, are they rusty like the outside? If so I'd call HDL and get an RMA and have them replace it..if they are clean and no binding of the joint, put it in.

Maybe that one was one of the ones they had trouble with at first. Honda never said what the problem was with the first production run that did not pass. Maybe they needed to re-machine the openings for the bearings. Kinda what it looks like to me cooldude

If it did not come in the plastic Honda bag then it's probably a rebuild.

It pretty much looks like mine that I got in the "new" run.  I've got dings and dents on the yokes faces.   I figured it was just them throwing many joints in a box and moving them to the USA.  The packaging states assembled in the USA.  The splines on both end look fresh cut.

The depth of cuts and stake marks look very similar to this original u-joint posted here
http://www.valkyrieforum.com/bbs/index.php/topic,18257.0.html

No paint on the new joints.

If you want, I can take some photo's tomorrow.
