I am on my way with another couple to visit New Orleans the end of this month. Just looking for some info on any "must see" stuff that may be there. We will be in a B&B about a mile from the French Quarter. Any good scoop on where to go, what to see, or where to eat will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.    Moe

The French Quarter, Bourbon Street (if you are brave), Audubon Zoo, Aquarium of the Americas.. The City Park is a great place to see early in the mornings over a coffee and a Benet(Sp). NO is a great town.... I hope that someday it will get back to it's former glory. Enjoy your time there and stay with your group, don't get off on any side streets during the evening hours and watch out for pan handlers. Have a Good Time.

Preservation Hall is a must see as far as I'm concerned...

Inside:

Outside:

I drink coffee black, but when you're in New Orleans, you gotta drink it at Cafe DuMonde
with chicory and hot milk...

And I forgot my favorite place lately.... The House of Blues.... Check their site, there may be some good acts playing there while you are in town. Good Luck!

I enjoyed everything when I was there. Check out the graveyards. Nice.

Wow, where to begin... LOVE the city!  I'm jealous.

For food, don't miss Mother's or the Gumbo Shop.  I think you'll be there during crawfish season, so shut up and suck it!! Grin (You'll figure out what that means)  Cafe Du Monde for beignets (kinda like donuts) and cafe au lait... ohhh yeah.  Also, the Central Grocery is where they have the SUPER delicious muffaletta sandwiches.  Hard to describe, you just have to go try one.

Bourbon street is fun in the evenings, great place to people watch and just wander up and down with a nice cold beverage and take it all in.  Safety in numbers, don't wander too far north from Bourbon.

If you don't mind walking, check out the walking tours - the haunted tour was fun, they do it in the evening.  I also enjoyed the evening riverboat dinner cruise on the Natchez.  Music and dinner.  There is a casino (Harrah's) if that's your thing.  There's also a pretty decent flea market if you want to bring back some souvenirs.

Have fun!

If you have time, take a bus tour.  Well worth the money if you want to see the city.  My fav place to eat is Mandina's on Canal above I-10.  Great food that can't be beat but cash only.  If you want to take home fresh seafood, travel to the west bank.  Perino's Inc, 6850 Westbank Expy, Marrero, LA is my fav place for fresh seafood.  cooldude

I don't know if the trolly is up and running. If it is, take a ride through the garden district (I think that's what it's called). Lots of old historical homes. It's very cool!

you definitely want to do the French Quarter and Cafe duMonde...awesome coffee and beignets.

Also, you can check out this website:

http://www.neworleansonline.com/neworleans/

good restaurant guide there

If you are interested in plantations, there are some awesome ones that are not too far away from NO

I love Oak Alley, the guides there know a lot about the history and the previous families

San Franciso plantation is pretty, too...don't know how much time you have

We live about 40 minutes away from NO, email me and I can give you more info, or phone numbers in case you need anything while on the road...

You will LOVE it!
