Went and did some snooping.  Since I've just owned this puppy about a week I decided to find some of the stuff I've seen mentioned on here and in the owners manual.  found the pigtail for acc power, I think, guess I need to find a matching male plug to fit in there,  Found the 3mm "Aux" plug from the radio,  I believe you guys mentioned a male to male cord to hook stuff up,  also found a 12 pin audio (?) plug, what the heck is that for?  Somebody knew I was going to hook a sidecar up at some point?  Did re-organize in there to be able to snap the fuse panel in the holder, man there's a lot of crud in there, guess I'll blow it out with some contact cleaner.
Also went digging under the seat to find the radio a loose 12 pin connector which I assume goes to the rear headset plug and intercom switch (now connected), found me an incomplete tool pouch in one of the two compartments behind the battery and am wondering what if anything should fit in that nice rectangular box behind the battery?????

More snooping tomorrow  cooldude

Better to be judged by 12, then carried by 6.

I had a tool kit and owners manual in mine when I bought it.

I have a 200 watt amp in the space behind the battery... Grin
So the answer is YES. You can find stuff to fit in there. Have fun!!!

Went and did some snooping.

.... and you already knew the proper way of removing and reinstalling the side covers without breaking the tabs in the process. So, now you don't need a new side cover. Congradulations.

That's a spot originally intended for the owner's manual.

That's what I was kind of figuring given the tool location, but the manual shows both to be in the left saddlebag

And they should be.  The same battery box is used in the Standard, Tourer, and Interstate.  Thus the battery box was built to hold two items that for the Tourer and Interstate belong in the saddlebag.

K. still would like to know what the 12 pin connector is for under the side panel.  Oh, and is the 3mm Aux. a stereo plug or a mono plug?

That 12 pin connector is probably for the CB if you don't have it....... It is part of the standard audio wiring harness ........

Hmmm......  I do have the antenna, I do have a 12 pin connector next to the radio going to the back, presumably for the passenger headset and ptt.  I assumed the radio/CB was one unit, if not where should the CB be located?  There sure doesn't seem to be enough room behind the right side panel.

The CB is originally mounted under the trunk.  Some have relocated it  behind the battery.  Yours obviously isn't there.

It is a box separate from the FM radio and about the same size.

If you're equipped with a CB you should have two antennas.

Thanks, snuck a peek under the trunk and it's there, which of course puts me back on that 12 pin connector behind the side panel .......

Seems there was a connection included for an optional CD player.  I'm away from the bike right now so I can't go look to verify.

Depending on how long and where your bike is stored in Winter, other things can be found in this treasure hunt.  I once had to pull a freshly cooked one out of the carb intake with needlenose, and he stunk (not a valk)!

Yep. Probably the CD pigtail
&

That 3mm is stereo... Great for iPod or mp3.
