I have a 1999 I/S with slash cut pipes and when I put the kick stand down if I'm not careful some of the rubber from my shoe transfers to the hot pipe. Is this typical or is there something I can add to the kick stand so I won't have to be so careful when I do put the kick stand down.

That just goes with the pipes you are running.

My stock (Viking) pipes will get a blister from my shoe every so often, but it comes off real quick.   Lots of things you can use to clean the stuff off.

Too many to try and list, so I'll just say Oven-off works, and so does WD-40.

I believe all OE valk kickstands are identical.  The problem that comes along is that the thin metal kicker arm, used to put the stand down with your foot gets bent (usually tighter to the bike) (on OE pipes, there is a little cutout for the kicker).  If you take a piece of pipe or PVC you can gently bend it back out a little so it is easier to get your foot on it without leaving shoe sole on the pipe cans.  Or tap it out with a rubber mallet.  I did.
