If my wife wants to go to IZ or any ride event I go to, she takes her car and meets me there. It don't happen too much, she's welcome if she wants to be there. We tried trailering a couple times, but I could'nt handle it. Hoser Lake Dillon, IZ 9 at Frisco

My wife used to not like to ride with me. When I got the Valk standard, it got a lot better. But she was still a short tripper. When I got the IS, she was all in. When I got her floorboards. She was double down. She REALLY likes to ride now.
In fact... I am going to see if she wants to ride to dinner tonight.

the "control" thing explains a lot. yes she is a control freak and independent and she doesnt have it, being on the back of the bike. so that would explain the inner thigh pains. i think taking longer and longer rides should ease her into it. as far as getting her own bike........thats a proven failure. friend of mine got tired of his wife bitching about having her own bike, so he got her one. she rode it maybe twice, then realized she likes it better riding 2up. SO DON'T EVER FALL FOR THAT ONE FOLKS

SO DON'T EVER FALL FOR THAT ONE FOLKS yeah, but she found out she likes to ride on the bike with her husband AFTER she tried riding on her own. she didn't care for riding her own bike but at least she/they ruled it out. Kudos to your friend for letting her try it. so guys, FALL for it and let her try it if she wants.

SO DON'T EVER FALL FOR THAT ONE FOLKS Not always... Just make sure you're instrumental in choosing WHAT bike is gotten... That way, you have 2 possible outcomes, both positive. Either she starts riding it and you've got a riding buddy and wife, OR you've got a spare bike! ...that's how I managed to add a ST1300 as a stablemate to my Valkyrie!

I have been blessed. My late wife of 37 years (died from cancer in 2006) loved riding with me. We logged thousands of miles on the long trips. I now have a gal who also loves to ride and in the past four years we have logged over 40,000 miles on trips. I know what Joe and some of the others are saying but I find I have more fun sharing the ride with her.

It just depends on your personal experience. I had a wife who loved to ride on the back, but not over 4-5 hours (which was fine), then she began to complain about things she never used to, so I taught her to ride and she moved up thru four bikes improving all the time, then she hit menopause and turned into an angry crazy person who I didn't know and quit riding entirely, then she left.
I ride solo from here on out........... and now I'm truly blessed. I'm just sayin.

Thing with women is that they don;t always say what they mean. I'll say that again; do they ever say just what they mean...? In other words 'my butt hurts' may be female speak for something else.... ??? The tensing in the legs may be a clue..... if you ride fast then she may get scared but not want to say so. Ever thought of slowing down so she can enjoy the ride more? Just saying.. could be just as simple as that. Maybe ???
