Beautiful east Tennessee ( GOD'S Country )

« on: March 20, 2012, 05:30:56 PM »

Cabin fever was starting to set in on me from all the hanging around the house waiting to get better. Weather folks was claimin' today would be abundant sunshine with temps near 80. Called a couple of my ridin' buds and we was in the wind. Gordon ( Lucky 13 ) said I had been here before but damn if I remember it  Undecided  This is on Buffalo Creek that feeds in the French Broad River.

Soon as we pulled in I said whats the pipe for ?

Ask, and Ye Shall Receive...

We got in about 225 miles today ridin' mostly around The French Broad and Nolichucky River's both rivers feed Douglas Lake in beautiful east Tennessee.

Lots of folks out fishing and more important catching ....We had heard they was wearin' out the walleye, sauger, crappie and white bass on both The French Broad and The Nolichucky.
The bank on both sides had people fishing as well as many in boats and all catching fish  cooldude

Seen along the way ...Nice ol' 56 Nomad

 ???   Undecided

It was good having my friend Paul ( Wimp ) back ridin' after surgery a couple months ago that had him down and out for awhile.

Not sure what they call this bridge but I liked it.

" The Money Shot "    I bought this bike in June of 1998 as a Standard and everytime I ride it, it  just get's better. It runs as good today as it did the day I bought it...Maybe better  Wink

Kinda of a guess but I'll say we'll be at Shady Valley ( The Snake ) around 1:00 / 2:00....I've not talked to Don ( Highbinder ) as of now but the weather forecast just keeps getting worse with each passing day however as of now I've got ( 4 ) bikes leaving Clinton, Tennessee friday morning to scout out " Return To Hillbilly Highway " this coming weekend.

Joe since you're "flirting" with pneumonia maybe the scouting ride should be rescheduled if the weather is going to be so soggy.

Gawd Joe, I miss riden with The Wild Bunch!  I've been sick most of the winter myself.  Right now I'm recovering from laser surgery repairing a torn retina in my left eye.  I won't be riding until my vision clears.  I'm glad to see Wimp out riding again!  Ride safe my friend!

This weather has been something else  ???   The Dogwood Trails is a big time money maker for my area .They have them every year on the same weekend and folks from all over come to ride around and look at the dogwood trees in the rich people's yard . Motels ,restaurants etc all depend on this money coming in....They claim this year ( the first ever ) the bloom will be done before the Dogwood Trails Weekend and folks are canceling coming .Glad to see my Yankee friends are getting some early year riding in  Smiley

Looks, and sounds like a great day  Wink

Like Timbr and Bob have mentioned, the weather here in the Midwest has been more 'July like' than March, but we will take it  cooldude  We have been breaking records all week, some over 100 years old!  Today should be 80 again, and I'll be riding as soon as I get outta work.

You know 'Halfbreed' is/was the insparation for my black beauty, and I agree when ya say that a 15 year old bike gets better every time ya ride it  cooldude

Hope ya feel 100% soon  Smiley

Thanks for the ride sharing Joe!  I too have been getting out quite a bit lately... I love this time of year.  Unfortunately, the rains have come and I'm sitting here staring out the window reading ride reports...

Wanted to complement you on the Valk... What a sweet looking ride!  Do you have a front view of your fairing.  It looks interesting and I don't think I've seen one like that before, but can't really tell...

Thanks again and ride safe!

Thanks for the pics and excellent report.  Those storms that y'all are getting just came through here yesterday.  Weren't as bad as they forcasted.  Only got 1.5 inches of rain and they said 3-5 was coming.  Had some high winds and some trees down, but not as bad as they said.

Take care and we'll see ya in Eureeeeka.
