The right and left belts are offset from each other including the tensioners something like the graphic below. The only reason I wanted to pull the cover was to spray the backside of the cover with a sound deadening compound but then there was potential issues with the compound flaking off and screwing up the operation.





Ronw,sound deadening on the belt cover? If this would have been on there on my bike I would have never heard a tensioner bearing starting to go out. I started to heard a slight ticking noise from up front.

I doubt one tooth off will have the valves hitting the pistons.  I changed belts on one of my riding buddies 97 and it came from the factory one off.

I put that out there more for peer review anyways. Oddities and all that.
