three weeks out and I have only averaged 2100 miles a week, I can't continue like this. I've come to the conclusion my dispatcher is an idiot!

I emptied out this weekend in Cali (where I shot the Solyndra pic) and the weekend crew gave me a GOOD load. from Lemoore CA to Florence KY (across the river from cinnci) like 2500 miles.

well today my dispatcher asked if I'd like to give up my load and deliver another load to Sulpher Springs TX. I'd be giving up 661 miles! I told him to go pound sand uglystupid2

I'm not making a living and he wants me to give up miles, DOLT!

I've got another carrier I'm going to as soon as I can get my truck home emptied out and back to Oklahoma.

Do you know why dispatcher brains are over $1000000.00 a pound??? Do you realize how many dispatchers you have to go thru to come up with a pound of brains?? uglystupid2 When i left Heartland Express a little over three years ago over the road drivers were right at .50 cents a mile. The B/S was a little on the high side but so were the paychecks!! cooldude RIDE SAFE. Oh B T W-lotsa east coast work.

I'm a slave (oper-ownerator)

the big big GIANORMOUS truck payment comes out before I get paid.  at 3600 miles per week that wasn't a problem, now I'm just going to get out while the gettings bad.

Sorry to hear you are having trouble with your employer.

I could start with mine, but where do I start and I would never end.

Plus, I don't like to bitch about it since it will never do any good, so why bother?  tickedoff Angry

I'm a regional driver pulling tanker with hazmat.  I've been with this company for 8 years and still haven't made over 50 grand a year.  Heck, my travel agent waits till the last minute, then calls and wants to know if I can do this load, and shuttle a couple if trailers before I run out of hours.  His famous line  "There's nobody else here to do the load.  I, just trying to make you some money!!"  I  can't make plans for anything.  There have been plenty of times on my time off he will call and use his famous line to get me to do a load.  I've been both an O/O and company driver.  I'm beginning to think there is no happy medium.

Come north, young man!  Pulling tanker here in ND will get you  $80-120,000, depending on how hard you want to work. I know, just did my company taxes, and that is what my drivers earned!

7 years hauling petroleum with same company and laid off 3 weeks ago, they lost a major contract 1/3 of the loads locally. 2 days ago interview with the company that took the work away. Monday doing the medical, driving again within 2 weeks for them, life goes on. I'll bet the new dispatch I'll be dealing with will just as bad or worse than where I was. I'll be getting all my loads by fax from a city 6 hours away and may never see the dispatcher. I've had poor dispatchers in the past," I hate the phrase do me a favour".

Supposedly the oil fields in the north are paying good money. i havent' looked into it because it would be too far of a move for me. search this websites forums  http://www.thetruckersreport.com/truckingindustryforum/

BTW  Knight has been decent to me so far with no forced dispatch and decent(2500 avg) miles.

Not a driver, but office worker.  My current stingy employer (or boss) or probably both if dropped a penny they would fight over it.  I just got a job offer today for getting the heck out of my current dead end low paying job been doing for over 6 years, no benies or paid vacation, just holiday pay is all.  Sucks is the job offer is 1 buck per hour less than what I feel it is worth to leave.  So, I called my current boss to be upfront the raise I requested and so rightfully deserved 3 months ago I wanted very soon (like NOW) since I got a job offer today.  She talked to her boss higher up and HR and 10 minutes later she called me back today stating I will be receiving 1.25 per hour raise to come closer to matching the other job offer that is further to drive day after day.  I'm going to hold her to it and if she says later on sorry, my mistake, cannot do raise, I am going to HR and spending hours with HR V.P. listing all the crap that is going on in the office under her watch.  If I get fired over it, so be it, it would be worth it to get the office cleaned out of the garbage that is currently there.  It is pathetic a trusted, valued employee such as myself doing above and beyond my grade level work has to find another job and get an offer just to get a decent raise so rightfully deserved.  She knows if I left the busy season would be hell taking 1 1/2 employees to do the same job I do plus the other 3 ladies would be buried even worse and be bitching more than they do now.  Sorry, had to vent.
