I was listening today to the news anchor/reporters trying to pronounce the names of towns and counties.

the first gal said new or-lee-uns, then I heard a guy totally mangle nacogdoches. well now that I spelled nacogdoches I don't think I'd know it was pronounced nac-A-do-shuss.

even the big guys can screw up I heard Charlie Gibson completely flop on Effington IL.

I said effington? I've heard of Effingham. I like Effingham, it like your cussing out pig parts.  2funny effingham, effingchops, effingloin, effingpigsfeet  2funny 2funny

  Then there is Mexia, Tx....
The locals pronounce it " ma-HAIR"...  us outsiders pronounce it" ma-Hay-ah"
