At the 8/14 meeting, we discussed the results of the polls that had indicated the membership wished to continue having Thursday dinner meetings.  These polls were open for a week each, so if you don't like the results but didn't vote, well, you shoulda' voted.

Some had indicated they wanted to move from Grapvevine in earlier posts, but Speedo brought out the fact that our meetings had been consistently larger since we moved back to Grapevine.  So we're staying in Grapevine.

The polls also indicated that we wanted to change our meeting location to Flip's.  So I checked out Flip's before the meeting.  They have a meeting room.  Honestly, it is as loud as the rest of the restaurant when you stand in it and the folding doors won't do much sound deadening with the open transom area over the doors.  But the clincher was that they needed us to spend $100 an hour in order to get the room for free.  Else, we had to pay for it.  With this information, the members at the meeting voted that we continue meeting at Joes due to the complementary meeting room, the food and the service.  For the remainder of the current officer's terms, which are due to expire next July, we will be meeting at Joe's.

I know there had been complaints about the food and service, but no one was complaining last night so that means either the food and service was better or those who don't like Joe's didn't come or didn't order food!

We also discussed the rides we had over the last month at the meeting, some ideas for future rides and had some great door prizes donated by our good friend and sponsor Al Lamb.  Then we hung around in the parking lot for a while  telling lies (I blasted the Aggie War Hymn riding past a t.u. fan on his cell phone) and went home, preparing for the real world Friday.

No rides scheduled officially until August 30th Texas Vietnam Wall escort ride - more details coming.
