I have an 01 I/S. we all kjnow they lean pretty far, but my question is has anyone had problems with wear or a failure?. Should i take it apart an look at it? what should i expect to see? periodically lube it with.....?
Currently, my side stand probably wiggles back and forth ~ 1 inch....normal?

should be no wiggle room on a side stand, if it is wobbling that much I would think the safty switch may fail and or least the bike fall over...

check the pivot bolt and then check underneath to insure the mount for the kickstand is secure to the frame

There is going to be some "wiggle", it's necessary for the kickstand to work properly.
Keep it well lubricated and it will work, always without a problem.
When it starts to get stiff you should recognize that it is not working correctly.
