Does it really matter that I'd rather pay $12.88 for a 6' cable for my 720p tv's compared to the ones that are $30 and up???.... Geeze I need 4

No... Doesn't matter one bit...

HDMI carries a digital signal. It doesn't "degrade", it either works or it doesn't.

"premium" cables are the most overpriced home entertainment accessory out there.
My wife used to work at a major electronics retailer that offered very nice employee discounts.  She bought a set of Monster Cable cables that were marked at $60 or so.  They cost her about $7 after her discount.
The discounts weren't based on percentages, they were based on the actual cost of the item.  For instance, computers don't have a lot of markup, so her discount wasn't much when buying them.  Cell phone accessories and car audio were massively discounted, sometimes 75% or more.
That being said, the only thing I recommend on any cable is to have a gold plated connector.
Conductivity and corrosion resistance are not the main reasons, though, in my opinion (although that is a good reason).  My main reason is that gold is softer than the metal on the cd, tv, dvr, dvd or whatever device signal outputs and inputs that the cable will "wear out" first if you connect and disconnect often, rather than the connectors on the expensive device.
And a word of caution on Monster Cables or any other cable that has slots cut into their rca plugsto give them more bite on the signal port.  Be careful when removing them from the device. I ripped the video connectors (the colorstream red/blue/yellow ones) right out of my television when I disconnected them.  Thankfully, my extended warranty covered it.

So, in a nutshell, cheap cables are good if they are gold plated.
Your mileage may vary.
