I have the old Honda cleaner & spray polish, which I think works great, but I've been looking for something to use on the windshield for those misty foggy mornings here on the Central CA Coast.  Unbelievable how those tiny droplets start building up and refuse to roll off.  All of the Rain-X I've been able to find is for glass only.  What's the secret stuff?

Yes there is such a concoction.... and cleverly disguised too.... They sell it in stores under the brand name of Lemon Pledge.... seriously! It works great and repels water and keeps your windscreen clear, no matter how much rain you get yourself into. Good Luck!

PLEXUS

http://www.plexusplasticcleaner.com/about.html

It's the ONLY thing that I use on my windshield.

It's not cheap but a little does go a long way.

It's also good for face shields and sunglasses.

I usually get mine at the local bike shop.

This link is for JC Whitney. The price isn't too bad.

Another vote for Plexus, good stuff. If your going to ride in rain, clean the screen once, spray on wipe off. Then apply a very thin spray coat and leave it on the screen. It will work just like rainX. This for when you are heading out into rain.

Don't use rain-x on plastic! It will create a permanent fog/haze on most plastics that cannot be removed. If they make a rain-x for plastics, I'm not aware of it (but that don't mean there's not one). The Honda polish or Plexus both work well. The more I use the Honda polish, the more I think it's the best stuff out there for the money. It's good stuff!

The BEST way I have found to clean a dirty windshield covered with bugs/crap is to add a little dish washing liquid to warm water, mix well. Wet a terry cloth bath towel well in the solution (wring it out a bit), lay it across the shield and let it work for about 15-minutes. Flip the towel over and wipe well followed with a towel soaked in clean water. Dry well and the apply then Honda or Plexus spray. That's about as clean as it's gonna get!

Hydrogen peroxide! Spray on or wet cloth and set on the shield. Spray nozzle works best. Give it 1-2 minutes and it turns the bugs to jelly (science fiction,) it bubbles them into goo. That way the hard carapace of the critters won't scratch your shield, wipes off easy then I spray with plexus to regain the slippery quotient. Also on body work, anywhere the bugs squish on ya!
