What is the difference between a Goldwing Gl1500 Ring & Pinion and a Valkyrie Ring & Pinion? Gear Ratio?

The ring and pinion are the same, however the housing (casting) is different due to the shock mount.

can it be modified to fit?  is it only the outer housing that's different?  are the internals the same so that a person can gut out one and swap parts?  i thought the gears on one were streight and slotted on the other. (goldwing being diaginal for a quieter ride)

I think the transmission gears are the only thing cut different. The gears in the rear end are spiral cut on both model bikes. I think someone here has already used a Goldwing rear to rebuild a Valk housing. Have to do a search in the archives and see cooldude
