Is it just me - or are a lot of you guys getting a lot more mileage out of your front tire than your back. I replace my rear Avon 1200 miles ago and my front is gone too. I run 40-42 consistently, but 12k is about it for the front. Guess I shouldn't complain, some guys are doing worse. i guess if I would only ride 3-4k a year it wouldn't seem so bad... Al

I get 1.5X - 2X the mileage on the front as I do on the rear, but I always thought that was perfectly normal...
The front tire's just kinda along for the ride, while the rear tire is getting constantly worn down by acceleration forces...

Just the reverse for me...I had two pair of oem both front and rear...~13K on the front and estimated 15k on the rears...I run close to 40 on the front and between 36 and 40 on the rear mostly one up riding... This set is Metzies and they have been excellent so far... Also, for 200 miles on 4.2 gallons....lots of twisties kept the speed down bc the hardley riders were with me...

I'm on my 3rd set of Avons. Fronts are getting 25-27K for mileage. The best rear got 18K but 16K is more normal. The current front is a Cobra with a venom on the rear. I run 42PSI (front) and 46 on the rear.

I get about 12,000 but my wife's VTX gets 18,000. The bikes weigh within 25 lbs of each other and she usually keeps her bags loaded.

Currently 17+K on front Avon Venom and 5k on rear Avon Cobra. New cobra waiting for front, but it still has at least 4-5K left on it. 43# front 46# rear. Best was 24K Avon front 16K avon rear.

The best I have ever gotten was about 10,000miles out of a set of tires...and I run them into the wear bars. On my Avon Venoms and E3's my fronts and rears were pretty close in wear so I changed them out at about the same time. But I'm off now since running a set of Metz. The rear barely made it to 5000miles and had cords showing, and the front made it to a little over 7000miles. So now my Avon Cobras have about 4500 on the rear and 2500 on the front. From the looks of the rear, I might make it to about 10,000 again.
I'm running 45psi Front and Rear.

It's really about if you are braking properly... if yes, your front and rear tire wear will be roughly equal... unless you are a real acceleration jockey.
Your brake pads ought to last roughly the same as well... except most people wear out the rear set long before the front... and this demonstrates bad braking technique... relying far too much on the back brake to do the stopping. My front pads wear more rapidly in city riding.

Got 13k on the first Dunflop E3 and 12K on the one I'm chamging out today. Putting on the new Cobra. As for the rear. The first being a Good year F1 around 32K and the Toyo is still kickin.

on EVERY bike BUT my Runes....i get about 1.5 to 2 times LONGER mileage out of a front tire....than i do a rear tire typically. It's not uncommon for me to wear out a rear tire...and...the front tire looks like it "could go on forever". On the Valk, i just go ahead and change BOTH tires...as i like having a matched set to start......
NOW, on the RUNES, it's a different story. Due to weight and weight distribution and the design of the front end...and the OEM tire (which us Rune riders think is of QUESTIONABLE DESIGN....for the Rune and it's weight/characteristics)....we typically only get 6-7000 miles out of a front tire...and that...is PUSHING IT! It's bald on one side at that point. But we can get 10-12000 miles out of an OEM rear on the Rune!?!?!?! So, on the Rune, it's JUST THE OPPOSITE....i wear out 2 front tires for every ONE rear tire????
Strange.......
and having to buy and put on a new front tire every 6k or so is EXPENSIVE. the OEM tire sales for around 200 bucks. BUT INSTALL at most dealers is 1.5 hours labor. So that's typically another 100+ bucks for labor...so over 300 bucks with labor, tax, etc. Lots of guys on the Rune board are trying REAR tires on the front, with rotation reversed....smaller than OEM front tires (meant for a Gold Wing)....etc.
i just live with the crappy front tire mileage.....and am thankful the Valk does NOT eat tires like that!!!!!!!
in fact, i've had my FIRST set of Dunlop E3s on my Valk now....for OVER 22,000 miles. YES....front and rear....for OVER 22, 000 miles!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
But front is about toast....and rear too..................so soon they'll be "due"......

Battle-Axe 200 in the rear, 42psi, 10k. Avon front, 40psi, 20k.
Tundra, I have read somewhere to run the Battlax at 36 to 38 psi for max life. I thought that was a tad low as I have always run the rears at 42 to 44 psi. Being new to a Battlax, can I run 42 psi and still get the same mileage out of this tire?
