My 2001 Interstate only has 8000 miles on her but the rear shocks creak like a rusty gate.  Sounds like the springs are rubbing on the inside of the spring cover.  What about the mount bushings.?  Anybody have any experience with this?

Check and make sure your shock isn't rubbing on your fender. I notice  when I had mine down for tires that the left side shock had been rubbing on the fender, I never heard it creak but I always have the music on so that doesn't surprise me.
Anyhow mine doesn't rub now.

Are the upper bushings worn out? I just replaced them with Gary's poly bushings on my 99 Interstate with only 15,000 miles. The upper bushings were shot and I had a front end wobble. With the new bushings, even the wobble is gone. As far as I know, my rear shocks never did creak.

All the best,

Mark

Just a guess, but, I would think the bushings are dried out. Not enough miles on them for the shock to have an internal problem. Could just replace the bushings and see if that fixes the noise. That would be a cheap thing to try first. Next question will be what kind of bushings. If you ask you will get 5000 answers. Almost any kind would be a good try to find out if that is the problem. Or you could just squirt some lube on the pivot points to see if that stops the noise. cooldude
