Is it me, or do they need a bigger size latch on their gate door?

many years ago i used to take my young daughter to the San Francisco Zoo.  They fed the "cats" once a day and let the public in to watch.  large room with about 15 cages that connected with their outdoor habitat.  once they were all in, they would start roaring as they waited.  my daughter would freak out when she was young.

they changed the method of providing big hunks of meat to the "drop in metal box" you can see at the lower right hand corner.  when i used to go they had an opening at the bottom right where the handler would just shove big pieces of meat into the cage until one of the lions grabbed the arm of the handler with a paw and caused serious damage.  very impressive to see these animals up close and hear the roaring.

When the cat stood up it was very intimidating,im 6 foot ,I was holding the stick with the meat on it as high as I could,so im thinking around 9 foot or better, their paws are as big as my head.that was one of the males, the females are about 150 lbs. smaller
