Will pay for the cost of the machining and send you my old one back if you already have one machined sitting on a shelf. also will pay for the shipping. Check with my friend Bill Gurney, a/k/a Grumpy and one of our VRCC supporting vendors. His email is below. I gave him a new one a while back to have machined down for the bearing mod(he has a lathe among other things), but every time we cross paths he forgets to bring it or I forget to call to remind him to bring. Can't tell you how many lunch rides, etc., we've been to and far as I know it's still on his shelf. Along with some other stuff of mine, but it's no big deal to me since I don't need any of it yet. Let him know I gave the OK to send it to you, as long as you follow through with the return item to him so he can cut it down for me. I won't be pulling the final drive off for a few months yet. His email: agurney1@tampabay.rr.comHe lives in the Tampa area, I live in the Orlando area. I'll shoot him a note to let him know you might contact him.

Art, You are the man. I just picked up a used shaft and spacer from Pinwal to do this same thing at my next rear wheel maintenance. Would you do mine too? Thanks,

Good thinking BigCountry23321. I think I'll get that spacer on my next HDL order so I can have it modified well in advance of my next rear tire needing to be replaced. At that time, I'll also do the bearing upgrade.
Thank You,
Mark

I wouldn't necessarily call it an upgrade since you will be running the bearings without the oil seal that is normally in the space that will now be taken up with the extra room needed for the bearing.

I replaced mine with a sealed bearing, so that is not an issue. I consider it an upgrade. I have ONLY heard of left bearings going bad. NEVER the double row bearing on the right, that takes more stress. MP

Don't forget to specify what size you want. With or without the dust cover.
