I have a set of the RS Saddlebags on my red and white. I really have no complaints. The quality is descent but you have to remember how much they cost. I will say that one of the bags was broken when I opened them from shipping and they sent me a new one without any issues so they seem to stand behind their product (for me anyway). Overall for the price of them I like them but you can't expect the quality of factory equipment.

I bought the saddlebags first. later I went for the trunk for a trip (all Matazu). The trunk is small. I would have prefered something like a Goldwing or Elecra Glide size. The quality is reflective of the price... Did you ever price a Valk Interstate trunk!!!

Yes, I know how much the real thing costs, hence my question. No one would expect the same quality as OEM.
The question is whether they are worth buying at all.... The Valk is such a beautiful bike I wouldn't want to degrade it by putting something on there that looked obviously cheap and I'd be better off without.... on the other hand, if they are a bit lightweight but actually look good enough to go with the general quality of the bike and not bring down the overall effect that would be fine. Its the looks I'm thinking of really - I spend so long cleaning the old girl that I don;t want to ruin the effect..
Anyone got any pics of them on a Valkyrie? ???
From what I can see of the pics, the saddlebags look marginally better than the trunk...
Also is the black just a shiny plastic or have they actually been painted and would hence look as though they belong with bike paintwork..?
I've got a yellow and black F6C Standard and was thinking of getting some black ones of these...??
Any help / advice gratefully received.. ???

It can look decent if you put some work into it. But it is light weight. I've had mine for about a year and have load it up pretty good. It's starting to deform a little. The lid doesn't always fit right. Not real sure I'd recommend it for any real loads. Click photo for link to project album.

Hedgehog; here is the skinny on your questions. I have the HL Saddlebags. I like them. They are squared off a bit more than the Valk Tourer ones. I had my machine shop weld up mounting brackets that I made. looks good and are practically invisable. Again, they look a bit more Harley shaped. I would recommemd the saddlebags for a Valk unless you absolutely only want OEM. They are plastic, not fiberglass. But they have held up well. No misfitment probably because I fabricted well made support brackets. The black ones match my solid black Valk just fine. Now for the trunk. I bought it as a last minute thought for Americade. Very small. it also matches my solid black Valk very nicely. Would I recommend them to someone who is very concerned about appearance? Absolutely not!!! It cheapons the look of Valk. It would look ok on my wifes 750 Virago or my daughters scooter. I us the trunk to lock up my helmet, otherwise I probably would have taken it off for daily use. Up side, with the saddlebags and trunk I have a whole lot of lights back there. You see me just fine. Shoot back with any concerns or comments. Mark

This is all useful stuff - thanks. I've not spared any expense so far, so I'm inclined to go for something a bit better... although quality looks good for the money.... I heard there is another (Japanese?) manufacturer... http://www.tsukayu.com/JumboStrong.htmlDoes anyone know if these are any good - they look almost as good as OEM? ??? Cheers HH

Cheers HH If you're looking around, I recently got a Givi... haven't installed it yet, seems like it will go right onto the standard OEM luggage rack that fits onto the regular OEM sissy bar. There's an adaptor, looks like you just hook that to your bike somehow (I'll hook my adaptor onto the luggage rack) and the Givi trunk locks and unlocks onto the adaptor. I only use the sissy bar/luggage rack when I'm two-up, but it looks like it would be easy to mount the adaptor onto the luggage rack in a way that it would be easily removable...

I'd obviously prefer OEM gear, but for budgetary reasons I've been considering this one for a while; just haven't pulled the trigger yet. It's apparently large enough and it looks like you can sort of custom order it - free lower backrest, optional wraparound backrest, speakers or antenna if you want, trunk rack, blah-blah-blah... It's a loooooong page, so scroll down: http://goo.gl/Bsi6y

Very useful - thanks ... I'm tending towards the Tsukayu on the basis that its good quality but cheaper than OEM... I will have to save up for it, but the Valk is part of my pension plan, so it literally is an investment.. Hmmm...

Givi is a well made quality product that will get in your pocket like anything thats worth the money...You get what you pay for ...I had the trunk on my Suzuki Bandit 1200 S.

The manufacturer states they are "high impact ABS plastic" From Tsukayu...... "Tsukayu Touring Trunk easily fit on almost all Cruisers and Touring Motorcycles (including Harley-Davidson, Victory, Triumph, Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki, Suzuki and more). With Vinyl Covered Backrest. Large enough to easily store 2 full face motorcycle helmets with room to spare. It is the Only Quality Fiberglass Touring Trunk in the market at a reasonable price" The Mustang bags that I have are made by Tsukayu (Quick Release Stongs) and are most definitely made of fiberglass. They are very heavey duty bags that come lined and with very nice lock sets. If one of Tsukayu's trunks tripped my tirgger and was what I was looking for, I wouldn't hesitate to buy one from them.

My bad, since the post was about Matazu bags, that's what I looked up. You clearly said Tsukayu and they sure are fiberglass. Dang, I hate stoopid!
