« on: March 27, 2012, 02:59:13 PM »

hey guys, quick question here, i know there is 101 answers to it but here it goes.... bought a 98 tourer recently so its time for its oil change and the previous owner said mobil 1 15w50 gold cap. was not able to find gold cap, browsing through different threads i wasnt able to figure out an actual answer...so can you use regular mobil 1 gray cap oil (15w50 fully sinthetic) in the valk or will it ruin the clutches  ???

Gold cap is the Extended Performance variety (15,000 miles).
Silver cap is fine (7,500 miles) since you'll change it before then anyway.

I use Rotella T 15w40 and change every 5k miles (thanks Mr Meyer).  It even comes in convenient a 4qt size.  Just the right amount for a change.

WalMart's price here is $26.50 for the 5 qt jug, and one quart bottles are $8.50 each.  About $14 savings.  Of course, YMMV where you live.
