where to buy tire?

Where is the best place to buy a front tire for my Valkyrie?   I want  Avon brand and I know Cobra replaced the Venom but have you all heard good or bad reference Cobra, versus Avon.

Bought my Cobra from Dennis Kirk.  Great price, there the next day.

You could try HDL, or  www.directlineparts.com  or  www.jcmotors.com  or www.denniskirk.com  they all have pro's and con's.  Some have a better price (shipping not included) Some offer good price and will match/beat any price with shipping included, but by the time you receive it, you'll be dead. There are many others out there, I'm sure someone will chime in. These are some I have used.

I like the Avons.

I have a Cobra on the front now, it replaced a Venom that gave me about 18k mi.

I like the grip of the Avons on the rear as well, but I can't seem to get more than 6k mi out of the rear (Venom or Cobra).

So, no more rear Avons for me.


I would suggest checking some of your local mom and pop bike shops for a new tire.

The guy that I get my tires from here sells them for less $$$ than directline ($165.00 for the front) and there's no shipping charges.

You may find that you also have a local guy that can make you a good deal.

I started buying tires from Southwest Moto Tires in Az.  They seem to have very competitive pricing, and shipping is free if you buy 2 or more tires.  I usually buy a set when I buy, so thats a plus for me.  Shipping is $14 on single tires.  Every order I have placed with them has arrived within 2-3 days.

Avon Cobra Front: $164.95

Dunlop elite 3 front: $155.95

Metzler ME880 Front: $166.95

Of course there is the Bridgstone and Shinko tires as an option, which SW Moto doesn't carry.

Ok, I have asked before about the Shinko but I don't remember getting much feedback.    I really don't want to tie up the forum talking about tires again, but I am looking for some sound advice and  this is the best place I have found for advice for anthing Valkyrie related.

With regards to the Shinko, I don't think there are a significant number of people using that tire yet to get any real good feedback.  The few I have seen here have been mostly positive, but haven't heard of anyone wearing one out yet, to know what sort of mileage to expect.  I wouldn't be afraid to try one. For the price you can't hardly go wrong.

Incidentally, you are not cluttering up the board at all, this sort of question is exactly what the board is for!
