My other bike is a Ninja and I am wanting to cut down on the wind when I ride it on the highway. I was pretty set on the double bubble which is what it sounds like compared to the stock windscreen which you could consider a single bubble. Then I ran across this-

From their website

The Laminar LIP - (And Touring LIP below) is designed to quiet wind buffeting and reduce wind pressure while raising the wind comfort envelope.

......
I noticed that they have lips for many honda, wings, harley's and so forth, and what they say about creating a reduced pressure air zone seems to make sense.

Thoughts?

I put a Laminar lip on my I/S and I really like it. It cut down on about 50% of wind buffeting and my passenger says it makes a huge differance for her to. I took a used windshield and drilled a lot of adjusting holes and finally got it where It feels the best then transfered the holes to the new windshield and screwed it on. The other best thing I did for wind was to install fork deflectors.

What? Drilled holes? Need some pics and more info. Which fork wind deflectors are you using?  ???

The Laminar Lip comes with some heavy duty hook and loop- you don't need to drill holes.  On the other hand, my Laminar Lip did not perform very well on my OEM Tourer windshield. (It did stay on though.  Grin)   I think the concept is valid; it just didn't work with my particular set-up.

As far as determining where to put it, I experimented by duct taping the lip in different positions.  When I knew where I wanted it, I applied the hook and loop.

I have had a Laminar lip for several years.  With a Valk Tourer, you have to get the "generic lip" -

When I first got it, I really felt like I noticed a difference in buffeting.  Over the years I don't really notice it making a difference quite as much... I guess I just got used to it.  When I first got it I was really expecting to have a lot more calm behind the windshield....  it helps, but doesn't remove ALL buffeting.

I think it's worth it overall--- use the  hook-loop (velcro type) attachment..,. you can adjust it slightly up or down... it does push light rain up over the top which is nice.  It makes cleaning the windshield harder and bugs seem to get jammed up underneath.  As my OEM windshield gets more scratched with age, I might replace it with a taller one and NOT get the lip next time... not sure yet.

I have a small handlebar mounted Slipstreamer Spitfire on my Valk... I was getting a little bit more buffeting than I wanted so I tried this product called Micro-Swirl Edging. It's designed to effectively increase the size of the "bubble" behind the windscreen. It works. It moved the wind blast up about two inches... enough to make it much smoother and nearly eliminate helmet lift I was getting at high speeds.

It took all of a two minutes to install and even as well into triple digit speeds, it's never budged.

Here's the website:

Sorry for the long delay-  I just measured my Laminar - it's about 19.5 inches across the bottom and less than 17 inches across the top.. I honestly don't remember what I bought.

If you want to experiment? try a piece of  automobile door edge guard. I have 10" chunk I just slip onto the top edge of the windshield for long trips and it lifts the air up a little farther above my helmet. I don't keep it on because the passenger says it looks goofy, and I obey!

No worries, I'll measure mine today after work and we'll  see. Mine is bought as 17 1/2" so if the measures match then that should be it....

EDIT: yeap,  it's the same. Works reasonably well IMHO. I'm able to ride with my helmet open now up to about 65mph without the wind buffeting getting into my mike and triggering the VOX ( and muting the music from my MP3 player )
