Y'all might recall this little malfunction...

A little closer view...

Ordered some new ones...a better design this time. I haven't ridden in DAYS! GHAAAAAA!

Was waiting on the friggen bolts to come in.

The poor postal guy...walking toward the door with a package in his hands...looks up to find a 300 LB fat guy, tools in his hands, charging down on him at a full loping run, lunging for the package and shouting "Oh thank GAWD!"

NASCAR style...  8.3 seconds later I had them installed. Would have been sooner but I stopped to take the pictures. The packaging was still fluttering in the air as I roared out of the driveway.

Ahhhhhhhhhhh! A ride! Maybe I won't have to kill anybody now.

Better design, yes? Much stronger.

Incidentally, I've figured out how to clean my bike! It's not so hard...remove old dirty broken part...install new clean unbroken part, go for ride!

Near death experience?

I can't get a clear picture of it, but the other riser is cracked in the exact same place this one broke. BOTH of them are also cracked where the bolt opposite this broken side holds the cap on.

Wouldn't have taken much more of a bump and I'd have been holding a loose set of handlebars and wondering just how the heck I was going to explain that to whatever I ran over/through...and possibly screaming like a cheerleader on helium...depending on my mood.

If y'all have these...or similiar...note the thin-ness where mine broke...I HIGHLY recommend you replace them. Risers are not a wear item. A break is sheer bad design and bloody dangerous.BOTH of them are also cracked where the bolt opposite this broken side holds the cap on.

Pretty sure they are custom chrome risers...from the first ones listed here:

Can't say much. I've washed mine twice this year already the old fashioned way and it is only May.

Daniel's old risers look like the Harley Deuce risers in style, but I know some other aftermarket companies make them also. I hate to tell on myself but I think the first time I saw the deuce risers was on Tim's site and I thought I've got to do that. So I go to Appletons HD in Clarksville to order some risers. They sold me the risers as one item the caps as separate item and the cap bolts as a separate item. When they got done with me I left about $200.00 lighter in the hip pocket. Then the next thing I know JP Cycles are selling them for $69.00 complete. Hopefully the "factory" parts I bought are a better quality. I haven't heard of any Deuce rider fatalities from the risers failing.  After installing the risers I did like the improved riding posture they provided but it seems I may have lost at least 10 hp and quite a bit of top end, ooohhh well.

Did your Valkyrie also develop that "potato, potato" sound??? Cheesy
I have the Deuce, OEM, on mine.  Am going out to take a look, and see if they look that thin.  I think maybe the OEM are OK, but the knockoffs may have "cheated" a little to save money? Evil

No potato-potato, thank goodness, wouldn't want to be labeled a "wanna be". Last fall I did go with a friend to a Harley shop that had a 2300 mile Valk for sale that he was planning to buy and ride home, about 300 miles one way. When we got there we started the bike and it didn't sound right. The sales manager assured us they had ridden the bike and it was fine and "had plenty of power". While the bike was idling I asked the sales manager if you could do this with a Harley. I laid my hands on the header pipes on the right side and left them there. He seemed a little puzzled and I had to inform him that the right cylinder bank was nor firing. Since I've never owned a Harley I asked to ride the Valk to get a sense of what they think plenty of power really is! I did notice that a Valk on 3 cylinder is smoother than a Harley on two. I think we may have insulted them a few times as they did nothing to help get the bike running right or sweeten the deal. And since the cage we drove up in didn't have a hitch we left empty handed.

Those appear to be the risers like mine that I posted when someone was looking for new ones I love mine but there is a problem with them before they get wet put some fingernail polish in the head of the bolts to hold them together they are not chromed very well and rust my only complaint tickedoff with them mine look like crap now because I didn`t know they where so porley chromed. No pics would hate for anyone to see them sorry.

The HD Deuce I have on are MUCH thicker there than the Honda OEM ones I took off.  The Honda OEM look thin, like the ones that broke in your pic, Daniel.

I also have a set of Deuce risers on my VTX...and concur with these observations. Much stronger, thicker part.
