hey all im new bought my standard a couple months ago been riding her around a bit but i cant wait to hit the open road ... well anyhow i bought a windshield for her online its a national cycle heavy duty touring model. i got it in there after a bit of work and took her for a spin and got a lot of turbulence at the top of my helmet at 50 plus mph i tried tilting forward i tried moving it up more and it was still catching the top of my helmet and rattling it. i dont really want to adjust it any higher cuz its higher than it prolly should be now (have to stretch my neck a little to look over it) any tips on adjustment? thanks for your time.

Some of the turbulence is coming from under the wind screen." Baker Air Wings" would eliminate most of it. The angle of the wind screen, not the height will also make a difference.  Cheesy

You mentioned tilting away from you, now try tilting towards (move the bottom away).

Like also mentioned, turbulance from the bottom may also be setting you up for the problem. Add something to the bottom, to try to break up the wind. If it works, then see about some Air Wings.

Ran into that problem over 10 years ago when I installed my first National Windshield. To correct the problem National cycle makes a complete kit with chrome lowers and light bar. You have to install their light bar to go with the chrome lowers. I have been useing this system for over 10 years and it works very well and looks pretty cool too.

try ducking down a bit and see if that helps.  I have the same head rattling wind with my stock shield, and by ducking down a bit it goes away. (essentially the same idea as raising it an inch or two.)

If youngpup's suggestion doesn't work, then you probably do need some lower wind breaks, FWIW.
