I know this question has been asked and chewed upon for years BUT I went to wally world to pick up a supply of Rotella-t, not a one to be found. I did buy some mobil 1 turbo truck diesel oil last summer after reading some posts on the board but I'm a little scared of using it because it does have moly. I purchased a couple qts of Honda oil to change oil yesterday but it's crazy expensive. So, are there any other synthetic oils around without moly?

amsoil 20-50, but then again, what's a crazy price to you? ask yourself, what's your cycle worth? sure there are alot of products out there that are designed to rip you off, if you are a regular user of Rottella T, stick with it, go to a different store. i usually buy two that way when i need one for the next change, it's in the garage already. ride safe.  |

Mobil1 "Red Cap" (the cap isn't actually red anymore but the writing is). You can find it at Wal Mart again in the 5qt jugs. I'd strongly recommend that.
Listen, diesel oil has ash dispersant and other additives in it that you don't need in a gasoline burning engine (though it won't necessarily hurt it either). I really wouldn't bother with it.

A lot auto stores carry Rotella if it's not at Wally world the day your in there. It's a few bucks more.

There are places other than Wall Mart that have Shell oil.. I agree with sticking with the Shell, if thats what you have been using and like.. I'm not a fan of switching oil brands..

Alph, not to start an oil weight debate, but why use Amsoil 20w-50 when our engines call for 10w-40? You live in WI where we regularly drive to just above freezing, so one would think the heavier weight oil would not provide as good initial startup as thinner weight oil as what is called for. I could see down south in TX or CA or Florida, etc. where the temps rarely go below 45 degrees to use 20w oil, but not in the frozen tundra? |

Look around at Wally world. I was there last week and noticed a big shipper of it back in the service area near batteries (YWWMV however). Shipper was full, whereas shelves might have been weak. Could be on an end cap as well...

mobil m/c oil and other m/c oils have moly in them, it is not a problem. if u searched u would have found my threads on the subject. moly is not a problem until it is in the 500 ppm range and then its mainly the starter clutch which will begin to show problems. u don't want an oil that has friction modifiers in it. |
