I noticed that I'm having some leaking on #6 intake tube. It's leaking out and sometimes it's starting to pool right below it on the head.
What the heck is up with that? I don't rember anyone talking about this before, it even smells bad, I don't like her smelling badly. ok NO rank jokes about that...
Has anyone had this happen? What do you do to correct? Is this related to the O ring thing that's sometimes mentioned here? Did I just miss this stuff? Is there an O ring at the bottom of the tube that's gone bad? Can this be easily replaced per each carb without taking the whole bank out? Of course I'm hoping that it's a fairly simple process to correct the leak.
It's been happening for about the last month, I've been waiting, thinking about it trying to decide if it's getting worse, now I've noticed that it's not just an occasional issue anymore, I need to resolve this about now.
So, any thoughts or suggestions?
Thanks for any info, John

If one is leaking, they probably should all be replaced. Easy fix, remove the two bolts that hold the intake to the head and loosen the clamp on top, twist it out, replace and put it back together. I think the part is -123, but take your old one to parts store and compare.

vacuum to the petcock.. Is there a vacuum line attached??? If so, the petcock could be leaking, however, if you have been running this monster right along then that may not be the case if the engine has been starting properly.. These intakes come off off quite easily,, two bolts and a clamp,, thats it..Match the o-ring[#123] up at your friendly neighborhood o-ring store,, should be about a quarter or so each,, and your good to go..

Thanks,
I'll get right on it.
It only leaks when I'm riding, and it's not all the time, sometimes it's after a half hour of riding. In fact it took me a long time to see where the leak was coming from, I just couldn't catch it.
Thanks again, John

Jad: Go to a hydraulic supply house and get a #123 O ring made of Viton or silicone. No more worries for many years. Also; You'll have to take off the choke cable cover to access the upper carb clamps.

Couldn't find a Hydraulic supply, so I sent to Auto parts stores until someone would try to help me. At Advanced Auto, the guy found some metric O rings that fit in the slot on the bottom of the intake tube. They stuck out a tiny bit and I figured they'd compress when snugged up. Installed them and so far after one test ride, they're working. I'm concerned that the original ones were flat on the top and bottom, but I'm guessing that they may have done that after being compressed for 11 years with heating and cooling.
I'm hoping that I have the correct O rings, and that they will last. They were .59 each, I saw on a Fiche that the Honda ones were $5 and change. Again, these seem reasonable and the fit was reasonable to me but I didn't get a choice of material they were made of, I hope they take the heat. I'm still going to be looking for the #123 so that I have a set in reserve. I may even go buy one from the Dealer and see how much it's different from the ones I picked up, I guess it's for peace of mind and it won't hurt to know for sure.
Thanks, John

Hey John, to hep ya out just a tad and to relax your mind, I'll lay $$$$ those are the same 'O' rings I have in MGM.
We buy 99.9% of our parts and supplies from Auto Zone, and that is where I got the ones for him a few years back. Mine were flat on the top and the bottom when we pulled the carbs for something. Too long ago to remember now.
I always felt if the 'O' ring was close in size it would fulfill the task at hand. Got a lot of equipment that uses 'O' rings in the shop and if something fails, we find one close and go for it..........

I replaced mine this winter. Picked them up at a local bearing/hydraulic parts house, they are the #123, all 6 for $2.00. The ones I took out were flat top and bottom, most likely from compression as the groove in the intake is flat, as is the mating surface on the head.

Well I just got back from lunch, going to a Seal place and picked up some #123 O Rings. They seem a little smaller diameter wise, than the ones I got at Advanced Auto Parts. I'm going to check them out when I get home since I think I have a spare.
I'm going to not worry about the ones I put in, and save these for when/if the others fail for some reason. I saved the info of the place in case someone near me needs it. I don't run into many Valk riders, and of those, very few do any of their own work and would care about the details of O Rings for Intake Tubes.
This has cretainly been an experience here, I appreciate all the feedback I've received.
Thanks all, John
