am i racially profiling as it seems most of the folks on the thug report are people of color? Am I profiling the sun when i say its yellow? Facts are facts. The resons may be different as to why and society has to man up to some of the disparity that "may" push one to do something they may not necessarily would have done if they were treated as we would all want to be treated. That being said, we all have reasons to not like something that happened to us, but we didn't resort to violence.
I hate that "profiling " crap folks hang their hat on. Dont want to be profiled then fix your race!
My daughter, a black 17 year old, said the exact same thing. We were having a discussion about this whole thing and we both agreed that this entire thing IS racial! It is racial because Trayvon WAS looked at suspiciously because he was a young black man. Not because Zimmerman is a racist person, or the cab driver, or the police officer was racist. Trayvon was the victim of racial profiling because there was a recent history of
other young black men committing breakins and robberies in that particular neighborhood. Should they have been on the lookout for older white men or hispanic women? In our society, for such a small percentage of the population, black males (about 5%) commit the vast majority of violent crimes. And until we all accept this and fix this, instead of not being allowed to even talk about it, it will never change and black men will continue to be looked at with distrust and fear.
My daughter asked questions during our conversation like: Why is the black girl talking on her cell phone the loudest one on the train? Why do a group of black kids have to draw all attention on to themselves in the movie theater? Why did black people choose such a vulgar way of speaking English? Why do so many black women choose to have babies out of wedlock and with multiple men? She went on to say that people from other races view these as a disgrace that they are perpetuating on themselves and that the change has to come from within, but so many within the black community choose to honor and emulate what is wrong and not what's right. She's so brilliant and I'm so proud of her for understanding that it is these insane behaviors that need to be addressed.
Sounds like you're the very good Dad of a very smart daughter.

Good families, in particular good male role models would probably cure this problem in a generation.
