One of my gas tank warning stickers was coming loose on my gas tank so I went ahead and pulled it off and now I have sticker residue on my tank. What is the best way to remove the rest of the adhesive without hurting my paint. Please help.

soft cotton cloth and WD-40. Make sure the cotton cloth is very clean.

lighter fluid like you use to fill a zippo.....Ronsenall....it even says on the bottle that it is good for removing glue.

Congratulations on the sticker removal. That's a pet peeve of mine.
(don't know why) I have always removed the sticker on any bike before I would even ride it.

Hey DaveT, I took my tank badges off and had a bunch of dried up glue left on the tank , so I used that Goo-be Gone ... I put a shop rag on the side of the gas tank below the dried up glue so it would not drip on anything and squirted the Goo-Be -Gone on the dried glue and let it soak real good and used an Old Credit Card and scraped at the dried glue and it started peeling off , little by little ... you gotta have patience when scraping Dave , but it will come off ... Thanks the Geezer  |

Years ago I had an 85 Vulcan 700. Bought it with 3000 miles on it, had been sitting for years and years. Anyway, hating stickers myself, I peeled off the tank sticker only to find I now had a perfect square of paint that wasn't faded.
Doh!
