Need someone to check out a bike in Houston area. My Friend Steve that came with me to GOTF last week is going to buy a Valk. He sent me this link asking what I think. Does anyone on here own this bike or know anything about it.

I know this is a relist.  I'm assuming he's come down in price. Can't say for sure. I've never seen the bike in person.

That's beauty! Being a Tourer w/low miles, I would show with CASH ON HAND and offer $5300, and see where that gets you.  Cheesy cooldude

When I purchased my 2000 standard, it was stripped down as (OEM) IMMACULATE (35K miles), the asking price was $6200.
10 minutes after RESPECTFUL haggling. I got it for $4500.  Cheesy

Be aware, when you least  expect it, some ridiculous deal show up. If you're ready to get on a plane and ride it back, you could save thousands!  coolsmiley

All my bikes were purchased out of state; always a great deal!  angel

Checked out that address and it was only 4.2 miles from my house.

I called him to take a look at it and he told me it was located in Sugar Land.  The address shown above is not in Sugar Land, but is very close to my normal operating area.

I am planning on meeting him and looking at the bike tomorrow morning.

Hopefully, more of a good report will follow.

OK, report time.

I believe that trusting my memory about the VIN number, it is a California model Tourer (SC344).

Bike had no windshield on it, but the w/s chrome pieces were in saddlebags.  Windshield was in his garage.  Looks like a slightly different setup.  I am not that familiar with tourer w/s.

No tank badges.  Pumpkin Orange and black paint job, not too bad and in pretty good shape.

Missing right driver footpeg (actually has a oddball replacement).  Both mirrors need to be replaced.
Oddball driving lights, left one pointed way up in the air.  He did say it has not been wrecked.

Last licensed and inspected in 2009.

Petcock weird patchup job to make it work.  Indicator disconnected.  Large fuel filter put in.  Just a cobbled together setup.  (Fixed by someone who does not know Valkyries).

Needs carbs reworked (my opinion).  Bike started easily but would not idle with choke off, even after running for 5-10 minutes.

Not really much of anything in extra goodies on it.  No Kury grips, no throttle lock, no kickshifter, no pipes, no highway pegs.

Very little rust.  Only bit I noticed was on chrome piece covering choke slides.

Mileage: 37,284

Owner is Hispanic and has difficulty with English but gets by pretty well.

Name is Ricardo Cristo, address is: 7323 Colony View Lane, Missouri City, TX.  His phone is 713-301-1655; the second phone number is for his son at 281-777-6942.

I don't know Valks anywhere near as well as many others, but I would not consider his asking price of $6,200.

Best of luck.

Laying in bed last night I thought of one other thing which I did not check out.

As the petcock/fuel delivery has been reworked, it is possible that he may have a vacuum leak from #6 carb that went to the petcock.  May account for inability to idle without choke.  Just thinking.

Early Bird;

Great report! cooldude For what I read, the things and fixes that it needs are "minor." ???

I still think that $5300 laying on the guys kitchen table would bring that baby home! Lips Sealed

One other thing, it is missing a battery.  He pulled one from another bike to start it.

I told him I thought his price was too high and he wanted me to make him an offer.  I explained that I was looking at it for someone else, not myself.

I think he would negotiate.
