"do i have to undo hex screw on water ways if so what is the best way as they will not come undone with hex key"
What are "water ways"? And what "hex screws"?
I've removed my carbs to replace the clogged pilot jets, but I only needed to remove the float bowl screws that were phillips (richards). If you have allen screws on your float bowls,...well I'd have to say that someone had fooled with the carbs sometime ago.

You stated that you removed the carburetors,, so,, I guess you need to describe the 'water ways' that return to the radiator.. I've not ever seen such a thing,, you may have one of them thar special Valkyrie's.. Normally once the carburetor assembly is removed you just flop it over and remove the float chamber screws.. The screws can be troublesome but the right driver head, sometimes a little heat or a hand impact driver will persuade them to release they're grip..

OK, the "water ways" are the external cooling passages on the top side of the engine cases.
Tonysnell, why would you need to get into the cooling passages if you have removed the carbs? The cooling tubes have no direct link to the the carbs.
Do you mean that the carbs are loose from the intakes and you need to remove them from the top of the engine? If that is the case, then remove the coil from the left side of the frame and the top left motor mount. the carbs will then be able to be removed.
I'd recommend that you download the Valkyrie Service Manual (PDF) from the Valkyrie Norway website before you attempt any further disassembly.

I have three Valkyries and I can say that I've never seen anything like that.
I did notice that the pilot air screw is not like any I've ever seen either. All mine are "D" shaped.
I checked the Service Manual and there are no views like in the above post.

Tony, we are talking a Valkyrie, 6 carbs total?
Not some other bike, and not 2 carbs like on a GW?

It's hard to tell, but that almost looks like a carb bowl drain system....much different than any of the Valkyrie carbs I've worked on. The drain screw assembly looks different too, along with the different pilot screw.
Could be European difference...

Honda has had water jackets on some of their carb systems, my VTX 1300R is that way. But I have to agree that looks like no Valk carb I've seen. That pilot screw looks modified.

So it's a UK version, that's why most/all of us haven't seen or heard of it.
I think I would start with removing the lines. That rusted hex screw, was that the one you are talking about? Do you have the service manual for the UK/Europian version?
I don't know what you would need, but if after loosening the screws for the bowls and it doesn't seem loose enought, then consider trying one.
