I have a 99 Tourer, 48,000mi. Recently I have noticed a brownish liguid leaking from my #1 intake where it attaches to the head. It is very little and only leaks out after riding a while. Sometimes it does not leak at all. It does not smell like gas nor is it slippery like oil.  Does anyone know what it could be? If the gasket needs to be replaced, is it a hard job?  Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

replace the o-rings and your problem is solved.  Redeye.tech on ebay sells good quality items.  A socket and philips screwdriver are all that is needed...do one at a time.  Easy job...

Always start looking high for a leak.. Look for signs of a leak up the intake near the upper clamps and if there is none, then the leak is probably the intake/head o-ring.. Like was said, its easy, loosen the the upper clamps and remove the 2 intake retainers and pull the intake out.. You'll see the o-ring.. Some will argue this, but, the o-rings can be found at your friendly local o-ring store/hardware store.. Its either a #122 or #123 I can't remember which and I prefer the 'fatter' one anyway.. I haven't had a problem with these $.25 rings and they're still in after about a dozen or more years so they must be made out of the good stuff..
