Hello everyone, I am new to the forum. I found it by searching for info on Valkyrie. I am looking at a 97 Valk and didn't know anything about them. I read a lot of messages and info on them and they seem to be a real popular bike. From what I have read the 97 has plenty of power and is comfortable to ride. I have read about a few problems they experience but nothing to serious.
The question I have is it still easy to get parts for them? I am seriously considering buying this bike. Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated. I look forward to talking to all of you and learning more in the days to come.

Welcome. My bike has been good for 69,000 miles. Only prob I had was a broke plastic nipple on the coolant resv tank. Replaced under warrenty. Most of the 'problems' are preventable. Maybe a club member can look at it with you. Go for it.

Welcome. You will need very few parts for a Valkyrie. These bikes are very dependable. That said, all parts are readily available for the Valkyrie. Buy it and don't look back.

Welcome.
OEM parts are still available. Last year Honda had issues with a supplier/Manuf of U-joints. You couldn't get them for a while. But that's resolved.
There is less bling and aftermarket upgrades then there used to be, but still way too many goodies out there to $pend money on.

97, the bestest year!
I really love mine. I say DO IT! Just check out the known possible issues if you can.

Ditto what fudgie said. Most likely, there's a VRCC member somewhere near you that'd probably be more than happy to go with you to check it out. Also what chiefy said......OEM parts are plentiful......aftermarket is mixed.....some things are readily availble, a few things are highly prized and priced when found.

Again-welcome to our corner of the insanity. I own or it owns me a 99 I/S in green and silver. It's at 57656 miles 22000+ of which i put on. I am currently in the process of purchasing and installing a rebuilt altenator. That job is really cutting into my ridin time. Again-welcome and tell us where you live and you just might have another member of the board fairly close. We is one large happy if somewhat disfunctinal family. RIDE SAFE.

I just bought my tourer model a month ago. Guy was asking $5500 but he took $5200 when he saw I had a cash in the pocket offer. When I first drove up I noticed it had aftermarket 6 into 6 exhaust. That was an $800 upgrade. Then I looked inside each exhaust and noticed they were all the perfect gray color of a good running engine. Checked mechanical parts first. Clutch, brakes, tires, engine, transmission and differential. Shocks and handle bars all look like the bike has never been down. No rips in the seat, no dents in the tank. After a test drive I was ready to load it on my trailer. So far it seems rock solid. Price was great. Most seem to sell for more. Pull out the dipstick, clean it off and reinsert, but do not screw it in. Is the oil level in the safe zone? If it is black, it just needs to be changed. If it has yellow in it, water is getting into the oil. On startup, if it has black smoke, it has carb trouble. Blue smoke at start up only may be ok if it goes away in a few seconds. Seems like most are in pretty good shape because they are a special bike and each one has been someone's pride and joy.
