The beatings will continue until morale improves

Salina, KS

« on: April 14, 2012, 01:13:08 PM »

Im looking for a new riding jacket.  I want something like the MotoMorph by FieldShear.  I have looked all over for one of those in red and black to match my bike, but it seams i have started my search a little to late.  All the sites I have found had great prices of under $100 bucks, but are out of stock.

What I am looking for is a good mesh jacket with armor, an outer waterproof shell, and a warm inner liner for spring and fall riding.

Im wanting to spend as little as possible, and have a budget of around $125.  If any of you know of anything that would fit the bill, please share with me!

Thanks,
D

I have a Joe Rocket, that looks real close.  The inner liner is warm for fall, and is also the water proof part.  Cool enough in the summer with just the mesh outer, keeps the direct sun off you while moving, you stay cool.

I have a Joe Rocket Phoenix (mesh) for Summer and a Joe Rocket Comet (waterproof and warm) for cooler and cold weather.  Both are armored.  I found that works better for me than one for all seasons.

I assume you already searched Motorcyclegear.com (formerly NewEnough.com).

I'm with Willow.  Mesh for hot summer days needs to be full mesh with no liner to be cool enough to wear.......... and mine is white and silver (cheap closeout)(and you still carry your raingear in summer).  The combination mesh jackets are still too hot even with vents and partial mesh open.

Here's a couple three season red and blacks (but not summer mesh) (you know you'll never get a good red match to the bike).

Cortech is good stuff (TourMaster's premium line)

Here you go: http://www.motorcyclegear.com/ .check out the close outs. I bought a Tour Master from them last fall for $49. They are good people to deal with as well.

the best protection with fantistic versatility is not cheap. www.motoport.com
items and price u are looking at provides sub-standard protection. search for crash reviews/pics of what ever jacket u decide on, u might be happy u did.
God Bless.

Thanks guys.  Im still searching for the one i want with in my price range.  Would love to get that Joe Rocket Honda jacket, but it is out of budget right now.  Wish i would have done my searching in the fall rather than in the spring.

i have a....make that NOW two...Tourmaster Intake Series 2 jackets. the one i was wearing in my recent wreck....on an 85 degree day....and the new black one i just bought. the one i was wearing was the silver one.....to get me on and off the base (many rules and restrictions for riding on a military base!). i landed .....on the interstate....at speed...on my left arm. where the jacket hit...there is a lot of wear....but...IT DID IT'S JOB!!!!!!!!

so, it does work good...and the Intake series is full mesh and VERY comfortable on hot days ( i wear one in the mid 90s here in Bama going to and from work on the base). it has two liners it comes with...one for rain...one for cold weather. sometimes i put the liner in the jacket...if i know that's how i'll use it that day. other days, like spring and fall...i just put the rain liner on...then put the jacket on over top...ride to work....take both off. Going home, just put on the mesh jacket......

the kicker is....if you GO NOW...and look for the Intake Series 2....and find one on closeout...BEFORE the Intake Series 3 models come out this summer....you can probably get one close to what you were quoting. i just bought a Series 2 from my dealer he had left over on the flloor for $140 (retail is 179). i think you could shop around and get one for even less..like i see them when i googled it for $128 all day........

GREAT jacket!
