Working in Rapid City for the next few weeks, decided to bring the Valkyrie!
Went riding after work on Friday, and soon found myself surrounded by a crowd of admirers!  Smiley

I dont really think they were all that interested in the Valkyrie, though.  Grin

I got to thinking, maybe a bright red bike is not the best choice in this situation?!???   Undecided   crazy2

They decided to just keep moving along.  They were about the only life forms to be seen on Iron Mountain Road- aside from some deer and turkeys.  Was quite a thrill to see such a herd!

Made a good ride GREAT!  Smiley  Wink  cooldude  cooldude  cooldude

Nice pic, sure wish I had the camcorder or camera handy 3 years ago when we went to S.D. when the alpha black male of the herd came within inches of our vehicle and eyeball to eyeball with our screaming 10 year old.  The herd of about 50 blocked the road for over 1 hour until the army humvees came rolling on thru and cleared the way since those boys did not stop to admire the buffalo.

Better to be judged by 12, then carried by 6.

You got more guts then I do!  Shocked Iron Mnt Rd is great! Vanoker Canyon is a good road to, exit 32. It cuts into the side of Rapid after Nemo.

Me and my Valk at Freedom Rock

« Reply #4 on: April 15, 2012, 08:20:08 PM »

Two years ago the wife and I are on the Valk in that very Custer State Park. We were at the end of the Wildlife loop and there was a traffic jam at the intersection because the herd of buffalo were hangin out there. 100+ of 'em.

As they were moseyin along a couple of them walked by and I figured they were up to no good. It was like when you play with your dog and the dog has the ball on the ground and pretends he's not watching you but he is and will pounce as soon as you're close? These buffalo had that same "Nah we ain't watching you" look. I remember thinking "Oh crap" They go about 10' past the bike then the snort, spin around (this is both of them) and charge us on the bike. I can't go anywhere cause there is a car in front of me and we are surrounded by buffalo. The one hits the brakes right before he gets to us but his hooves slide on the pavement and right under the bike. He's trying to put it in reverse with his hooves sliding and he finally steps back. The other one stopped well short.

My wife is screaming "Go Go Go"

We finally  and slowly get out of there.

The looks we got from the folks in the cages were priceless.

It was exciting.

Since we lived to tell about it, funny too.

My wife doesn't agree though.
