Ordered new brake lines for my higher handlebar project and the hardware that the lines came with are a little different and I had a question regarding them.

The new lines came with new "T" type fittings (female) as there is a horizontal, short stretch of line that provides fluid to the line extending to the left caliper.  Where the lines from the master cylinder and calipers screw into these fittings, there is still about 4 threads visible and no crush washers were provided for these fittings.

Should these screw in type fittings use crush washers?  If so, I think I would need to double or even triple up on them to make up the space.  Could I use plumbers tape?  I'm not sure if it would even work with brake fluid.

What do you think?

Sounds to me like ill fitting aftermarket parts.

Fudging together with tape and other band aids will put your life in jeopardy.

Hey G-man, my bike has Apes and here is a shot of the brake line where it "T"'s off to each side if that helps you at all...

OK, are the fittings on your lines the male part of this union, and the "T" fitting the female?  If so, it is similar to what I have, just oriented diffrently.  I don't see any crush washers at these fittings.  How did you get them leak free?  Did you use anything on the threads?

I have a similar setup. The only crush washers used were at the banjo fittings. Nothing used at the other connections.
