Tom Hanks father is the lead singer. Love this one! Takes us waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay back to the "good old days!" Tom Hank’s father is much better looking than Tom and even better looking with age. He was the lead singer on the left. He still has it! Hope you enjoy.

Two performances 47 years apart.

If you were alive in 1957, and old enough to enjoy the real original Rock and Roll, you will probably remember the group, "The Diamonds" who had just launched their super hit "Little Darlin'." For you that are too young to remember - it was a time when the performers were happy, enjoying themselves, respecting their fans, dressed appropriately and their lyrics could be understood. They did not feel obligated to scream, eat the microphone, mumble inaudible lyrics or trash the set.

In 1957, The Diamonds had a hit with "Little Darlin". 47 years later, they were requested to perform at Atlantic City. This link leads to both performances. Watch the first one then scroll down for the new one 47 years later.

Very cool.  cooldude

Of course, if they had bit the head off of a bat or pidgeon on stage, lit a guitar on fire or grabbed at their crotch while prancing back and forth on stage they may have been called back sooner...  Undecided

That says something about how far we've come.   Embarrassed

I remember "The Diamonds" and "Little Darlin'", as that was during my high school years out in California.

Superb that they could pull that off 47 years apart.

However, that little tidbit about Tom Hanks is apparently false.

Re. Tom Hanks dad, it was just a copy/paste thing so I'm not surprised. I was more interested in the music. I noticed in the American Graffiti bit there was an old Merc, now that brought back some mammaries.....er.....memories.  angel  I had a baby blue '50 Merc 4-door lead sled. Had a mean rake, front so low I could knock over a beer can with the front bumper, but man would it take a corner. We also had a local drive-in called the Dog House with the ever present gals on skates. It was on the edge of town next to a cornfield and about 1/3 mile back into the field was an old deserted gypsum mine pit. We used to go back there and skinny dip until one summer night all the gals from the Dog House sneaked back there after work and swiped our clothes. Fortunately I always carried a spare ignition key on a chain around my neck so I ended up giving about eight naked guys(me included) rides home. Can you imagine eight naked dudes in an old '48 Dodge, trying to stay below the window and still stay away from the other naked dudes. About two weeks later, we found out the gals were going to party at the pit like we did. The summer temps were high and the gals had worked especially hard, so 6 or 7 decided it was time to get refreshed after work. About a half dozen of us walked all the way back to the pit, sneaked around and picked up all their clothes, then made ourselves known midst much name calling by the gals. We took the clothes over to the post office and the courthouse and strung them up on the flag poles....then cut the ropes so they couldn't be taken down real easy. Nothing quite so intriguing as a bra and panties flying in the breeze about 30' in the air....which was discovered the next morning when the custodians went out to raise the flags. They had to call in a fire truck with a ladder raised up to take care of the problem. But the gals still had to make it home, so being good citizens we offered them all a ride....which prompted more name calling, plus a denial of the ride offer. One gal finally hotwired her car and took the others home, we followed just to make sure they got home safely. By the time they all got to the first house, we had a six car procession....making certain they all got home safely.  Grin Evil

I had a lot of fun in high school, Americn Graffiti had nothing on me and my buddies. Especially that one about chaining the rear end to a post....but that's another story for another day.

Since I started listening to records with my dad in about 1956, I remember a lot of these old songs.  I think the first one I remember was Chuck Berry's "No Particular Place to Go",,,, Old guys rock  coolsmiley
