I am fixing up a Valk that has sat for a long time.

The windshield has a yellow tint from age.

What is a good product to restore it?

thanks

If it is a stock Honda screen, it has a clear film over the plastic that has most likely changed color from age. Not sure if it can be restored to clear, as most buffing compounds will ruin the film. There are a TON of different windshield cleaners on the market. Search the site here for windshield cleaners and read posts on who used what. I have an aftermarket shield that does not have the film on it, and use regular stuff from walmart. cooldude

+1   I recommend Novus products if it's not OEM cooldude

Paint the bike yellow and tell everyone that the windshield has an AMBER tint, custom made.

Thanks every one , I just ordered up some yellow paint!  Grin

I did check out the clearview site. And that is a option.

This morning I for the heck of sprayed some honda polish on it and it helped a little.  So I may try some other stuff before I shuck it!

I went through the same thing last year with my sons bike. The windshield had a yellowish "scale" on it. It was so bad that I thought nothing I did couldnt make it any worse!

I used Novis #3 & a cheap electric buffer I picked up at wally world. I used several clean bonnets. I started rubbing by hand with a soft rag but it was too much work.

I think I followed it up with Micro gloss polish...same stuff used on fiberglass tubs to remove fine swirl marks, etc. Whatever you use, start in a lower corner and test it first.

It was a very labor intensive job but it still looks clear and was cheaper than buying a new WS.

The coating (both sides) can be removed with brake fluid.
A light scruubing with a piece of panty hose and the brake fluid will get rid of the coating.
Shield needs to be off the bike and all chrome pieces removed.
Follow with a warm soapy wash, dry and then do the polishing procedure. I have had good luck doing this using an orbital car polisher. Takes some time but the results are worth it.
Deep scratches can be gotten rid of by sanding with 1000 or 1500 grit wet/dry sand paper the a final sanding with 2000 grit then the polish procedure.

+1 on ClearView Shields.  Excellent product.  Sometimes their web site will list factory seconds that can be had at discount.  If you don't see what you want, call them.

It it's a Honda windscreen then the integrity of the thin mylar coating has been compromised and must be completely removed.  I used Novus products to clean up an old Honda windscreen.  Took a lot of elbow grease.
