As of Sunday, April 15th, I have finally joined the ranks of the lucky and purchased a 1999 Valkyrie Interstate with 21,561 miles on it! This was my second attempt at purchasing one - first attempt didn't go quite the way it was planned, but that's a long story for later time.

Anyway, first order of business was 240 miles home...total miles the last three days: just shy of 350!

A little about me, and this is based on email conversations I had with Willow as part of my registration being approved.

I do own a motorcycle service, parts and accessories shop here in SC. I will not be blatantly advertising any of my products or services here. I'm also a factory trained Honda Silver technician, so I may chime in from time to time on technical questions posted to the board, but not as a way of attempting to drum up business.

I'm looking forward to participating in this community of enthusiasts, and I know I will learn volumes from the long-time Valk owners that I'm sure are lurking about. I just hope I can contribute a fraction of what I will be learning.

Take care, and until next time, Ride Safe!

Welcome to the family. I am sure that you have a lot to contribute. We have many diverse opinions on this site, but what binds us all together is a common love for what you just purchased.

For a guy with your knowledge and training to lust after a Valk is more confirmation of the quality and capabilities of our "Fat Ladies"

Again, Welcome!  cooldude

BTW: You can't join without posting a pic of your new passion!

I'll post a pic of her later this afternoon or evening. She's a bit rough - apparently her previous owner got a new wife, and new wife made the Valk sleep outside.

She has some rust in places, deteriorating dust seals on the forks, some switches with a mind of their own, and "salt corrosion" from living so close to salt water - nothing a little elbow grease and, of course, some baking soda, a powder coat gun and an oven can't take care of. Smiley

As for the final drive question that was posed, I'll take a look around and see what the issue is you're alluding to...I'm sure it's one of those "stump the new guy" kinda things. Probably the stealerships tout the party line of "we've never heard of that before..."

Now, off to fire up the Valk for a nice early morning ride into work...

Welcome to the insanity we call the VRCC, you will enjoy both the club as well as the bike.......with regards to the Pic's we do not take offense to a dirty bike, the Valk is meant to be ridden, but they do shine up nicely for the Ball.

Welcome, ShootingStar.  I'm glad you got your Valk.  I'm sure you'll be a welcome addition to the community.

I was going to refer to you as "SS", but we have another "SS" down the road from you in Athens.  It sent a chill down my spine just thinking about it.   Sad

You won't be posting any videos of yourself dancing around in your undies, will you?    Shocked

Hey Star :: As said before , welcome to da club. It still amazes me how folks are still just learning about the 'Valk' and loving it already. Bought my '01 standard model in '03 out of SC [Summerville, I think] and I still love it. Hummm , just realized I've had it for 10 years already. I've also got an I/S now and either one can go anywhere at anytime. Of course it's nice to have one to ride while the other one is down for service. I'm not a pro like you, so it takes me ' a while  ' to get things done sometimes. Have relied on a lot of info from this group over the years and they still don't disappoint me. I'm sure you'll find them very receptive to helping new members
