There are 'lines' on the shock body itself. These should be in the same spot on both sides. I think there are either 3 or 5 lines on each. If you can't see the lines, they are not turned down at all yet.

Sorry, I forgot to say that they are on the top part above the chrome adjuster and below the top mount bolt.
