The thought of owning a Valkyrie has been knocking around in the back of my head ever since I saw the nickel trick on TV way back some time ago.  I was perusing the bike ads over on another forum and saw one for sale or trade.  Cool thing was the bike he specifically wanted happened to be one that I owned!  Even though I've only had this bike for a few months and really love to ride it, the thought of getting a Valkyrie even-steven was too much to pass up.  So, a deal was struck and I have the DL1000 loaded up and ready to head north.  We'll make the swap this weekend and I'll head back home.

The new ride is a 99 Honda Valkyrie standard which has been tourer-ized. It has 50,740 miles on it and has been maintained to the T. Splines always greased every 10,000.

Corbin seat with 1 backrest
Corbin Beetle Bags
Corbin side covers
Cobra light bar
Honda factory windshield
Cobra 6X6 pipes w/baffles
Baker Air Wings
Cobra rear cargo rack
Progressive 440HD rear shocks
I have a complete spare rear end out of an 01 that was triked just for spare parts.

Thanks everyone, I'm pretty excited about getting this.  I'm in Charlotte and might get to pick it up tomorrow!!!!

I'm not too sure about the Beatle bags, I'll have to see them in person before I decide about those.  They might end up in the classifieds!!

I don't know how you traded but that bike was priced right. If I had not just purchased this Valkyrie Smiley

that one would most likely be setting in my shop right now. Love the Beetle bags and side covers. If Misunderstood passes on the bags let me know. I have a set of oem bags and mounting hardware we might could work up a trade.

Traded even up, mine for his.  Yours is a fine looking specimen.  What seat is that?  I think you have to use Corbin seats with the Beatle bags, could be wrong though.  First time for everything!!!

We made the trade and went out for a celebratory ride around the countryside!  The bike is on the trailer for the trip home on Monday. cooldude

I'm glad you got the Valk, you will be one happy camper. Can't wait to see it up close. Seat on my 99 Valk in the picture is also a Corbin. Ultimate Seats make a seat that will work with Corbin bags or they did a few years ago. Here is a picture of it on my 97 Valk.

Ultimate still makes a seat for use with the Beetle bags.  I just bought one about 6 - 8 months ago.

How do you like the Ultimate seat?  What did you have on there before?

Decided to hit the road today, made it home about 6:30pm.  Backed into the driveway and unloaded the Valk.  I'll be taking her over to get her tags in the morning then off for a long ride in the country!!

Very cool looking bike.  If I was one-up most of the time and wanted a mostly solo-riding Valkyrie, the one you got would be at the top of my list.  I really like the not so ordinary corbin beetle bags and corbin side covers that match the two very well together and is not the norm.  I'd keep both side covers and beetle bags together though since they compliment each other in my opinion.  Looks way cool and fast black is the way to go!

Went over to DMV to get it registered and they were closed today:  Confederate Memorial Day!! Sad  I still have the NC plates on it so went riding, spent all day out and about.

The look is growing on me and the more I look at it the more I appreciate the look.  The issue with the Corbin seat is that it has a busted seam and the backrest also has a busted seam.  Found an auto upholstery shop that will repair both for $175.  Drawback is they are booked until the end of June.

The drivers seat was trashed so spent some time exploring my options when I ran up on a post in the Classified section of VRCC.  Several days later, I now have a "new" 4 piece set of Corbins for my "new" Valk!  I don't know that I'll leave the passenger backrest on there all the time.  Seems a little big to me.  But, I know that my wife wouldn't ride it with anything smaller.
