There are two pulse generators and they are both mounted on the front of the engine block behind the timing cover.  No need to remove the tank.

There's two of them and they're under the front timing belt cover. What makes you think you need to replace it? I'd check the clearance between them and the trigger wheel, a little finesse of the clearance may be all that's needed. Also check to see if it's a stock trigger wheel. Some of the aftermarket ones with advanced timing have been known to give problems, has something to do with the shape of the spikes on the trigger wheel.

I guess I do remember that........you should be able to access everything under that cover whithout actually removing the tank but unbolting it front and back and removing the fuel selector knob from the petcock should let you move the tank around enough to get to everything

Have you gone thru the 'Honda Bible' and tested the generators ?? If not, why do you they need replacement ??  They very seldom fail..
