They are still available.... I had a new one in standby and the one my Valk was wearing gave up when there was gas spilled on it.  So, I installed the new one in standby from 3 years ago, and ordered/received a new one which I placed in standby.   I may try to remove the old plastic chrome from the one bubbled up..... then again, I might just let it sit on the shelf next to the new one I have in standby.

I had my local dealer price match HDL/DLP as well.... as they always do.  I had to pay tax, but didn't have to pay shipping or handling.

Sure do, just ordered one about a month ago from Service Honda. Cost $35.72, was shipped in less than a week along with other stuff.

I replaced mine, may have damaged the original with chrome polish thinking it was metal instead of plastic.

Just got a new OEM one. I lined it with an insulation blanket; hopefully the chrome won't wrinkle.

Although it's not impossible that the alt. cover plating separation is due to chemicals. I believe it is primarily heat related - generally from long idle times. Even if chemicals come into play it is the heat that sets it to first crinkle at the logo box-out corner(s) where the vacuum plating is much thinner. It is heat, see pic, that warps the ABS.

I had some left over paint from my fairing & pod project so I opted to peel/prep/paint/clear my alt. cover.

Several months later, after a carb clean/rebuild that I spent a very long time syncing with a 6' man-o-meter. The man-o-meter is so acutely accurate and sensitive with adjustments it shows other carbs previously balanced way off with another carb adj..
Close to an hour of dinking with it I accepted well enough & let it be.
But the heat build up warped my painted cover terribly, the paint fared well though. I need to buy a new one now.

I really like what you did with it. How long did it take to peel the chrome off? Once started, does it come off easily? thanks

Peeling the face was just a few minutes. The back took a little longer.

I then filled & sanded the left front side to re-contour the surface from heat warp.
Primer, color & clear. Wet sand clear and polish.
All'n all about 3.5 hrs. total.
I used http://colorrite.com/ rattle-can products.

I've had some practice tho'...fairing & pods.
