So Cal

« on: April 20, 2012, 07:22:33 PM »

I went Darkside and everything has been OK.  Smiley
Yesterday I installed a hitch and new saddlebags. The rear nut cages are gone. The rear bots are not all the way in! ???

The rear fender tail is loose and tied down. I had no help and could not handle the hitch and the Saddlebag mounts correct installation.
Nevertheless everything is "safe" enough to ride! I went for a short ride. Roll Eyes

HOWEVER, I am now getting an intermittent  rubbing / scraping sound, especially when I turn left... but it's there even on the straight..  tickedoff

I jacked her up turned the wheel with my hand. Nothing, no sound. I then started her and let the wheel spin in first,
in second and up to the six gear! NO freakin' sound!   Lips Sealed

WTF! I have a big outing to attend tomorrow!  Angry laugh uglystupid2

Any thoughts other than spankin' her?  Cry Wink

Have you looked for new wear on the tire? It is probably something rubbing. Have someone sit on it off the lift and see where it is.

Dust it with powder, ride it......look for the rub mark in the powder.

Ditto on the bolts, check all of them.

Found the problem. As with most Valks, the rear fender is not totally straight... Angry
Notwithstanding, there is nothing that Duct Tape and a Hammer can't fix... temporarily.  tickedoff 2funny

6th gear was a Cobra add on and is no longer in production. If you can find one for sale it will go for some ridiculous price, but don't expect anyone with one to be willing to sell theirs.  crazy2
